GEORGETOWN - The traditional Sussex County Memorial Day Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday on the Circle in Georgetown.

It is sponsored by the Georgetown Kiwanis Club, Korean War Veterans Association and the Georgetown-Millsboro Rotary Club.

The Keynote speech "The 561" will be delivered by Rear Admiral Donald L. Sturtz, USN (Ret.) The program is scheduled to last about 45 minutes. Some seating is provided on The Circle.

Attendees are encouraged to bring folding chairs.

Mortuary Affairs chief to address veterans in Kent

DOVER - Allen Cronin, Chief for Past Conflicts and Mortuary Branches, Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations at Dover Air Force Base, will serve as keynote speaker at Kent County Chapter 850, Vietnam Veterans of AmericaMemorial Day ceremony at 2 p.m. Monday at the Kent County Veter ans Memorial Park, Dover.

AFMAO has global responsibility for all Air Force mortuary matters for current and past conflicts. It operates the nation's sole port mortuary and provides global contingency mortuary response teams in support

of Air SForce ·and combatant command requirements.

AFMAO serves as the single focal point for all mortuary affairs and survivor assistance matters.

Memorial Day tradition continues at the Triangle

DOVER - The annual Dover Memorial Day service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at the Triangle, State and Loockerman streets.

DelVets Post 2 and Walter Fox Post 2 are among the participants.

Kent County WW II Heroes Tour

DOVER - Learn about the lives of local World War II servicemen who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country on a self-guided tour at Lakeside Cemetery, North State St.Dover.

There will be information available showcasing over 80 local World War II servicemen for the public to view from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Memorial Day, May 28. There will be a one-hour guided tour starting at 11 a.m. The tour begins under the flagpole at Lakeside.

Memorial Day Observance Service at Sharon Hill

DOVER - There will be Memorial Day Observance Service at 9 a.m. in Monday in The Garden of Honor at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, 2928 Sharon Hill Road, Dover.

The event is sponsored by Sharon Hills/Odd Fellows Cemeteries, Dover Air Force Base Color Guard and the Central Delaware Marine Corps League.

Smyrna-Clayton Memorial Day Parade to be held May 28

SMYRNA - The Smyrna-Clay-ton Memorial Day Parade will be held at 10 a.m. Monday.

It begins in downtown Smyrna and ends at Wright Municipal Park on North Main Street, across from North Smyrna Elementary.

Keynote speaker will be U.S. Army Veteran Mary Johnson.

In case of inclement weather, the parade may be canceled. However, a memorial ceremony will still be held at the Clayton Fire Hall at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 28.

VFW Post 7478 to host Memorial Day service

GREENWOOD - The public is invited to attend a Memorial Day Community Service at VFW Post 7478 on the corner of Governors Ave. and Mill St. in Greenwood at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 30.

Greenwood Memorial VFW Post and its Auxiliary will host the event which will feature musician Steven Johnson who will lead the attendees in patriotic singing and keynote speaker, Hal Godwin, who is the town manager of Greenwood.

He will be commemorating the sacrifices of the military men and women who have laid down their lives in service to this nation.

There will be a Buddy Poppy Campaign for the VFW's relief fund and refreshments.
