Mental health exam possible for suspect in school threat

Mohave Valley Daily News - 7/27/2017

KINGMAN - A mental health exam may be in the works for a Bullhead City man who allegedly threatened a Bullhead City high school.

Spencer Travis Pyle, 30, is charged with felony interference with an education institution. He is being held in county jail on a $50,000 bond.

Mark Harvancik, of Kingman, did a pre-screening mental health evaluation of Pyle on July 17. A court hearing before Superior Court Judge Richard Weiss to determine if a full mental health evaluation is needed will be held next week. Weiss will begin handling felony criminal cases starting Monday.

Pyle's attorney argued that his client only posted comments on Facebook and did not act on them. Prosecutors argued that it wasn't a one-time event but a string of angry online posts including a message that read "say goodbye to your loved ones."

Pyle was arrested around 8 p.m. on May 14 near Highland Drive on a misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear. Pyle allegedly posted threats on his Facebook page shortly before his arrest about killing himself and others and specifically mentioned Mohave High School, Bullhead City police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said.
